Cate Blanchett at ‘The Hobbit’ Premiere in London: Givenchy Fabulousness

Cate Blanchett attended the The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey premiere last night in London, and, oh my, she looked Fabulous! I’ll have pictures later tonight, here’s an article:

Cate Blanchett at London Premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected JourneyThe Aussie diva is back in the spotlight with the “Lord of the Rings” prequel, and as always, is wearing something unique and seemingly only meant for her.

Cate Blanchett is among the most stylish actresses alive — and unlike almost any others outside of Sarah Jessica Parker, she has a style that is completely consistent: avant-garde, clean, angular, modernly simple with a twist. It’s so consistent that we can discern that the taste is actually hers — even if she does work with a stylist.

Back in the spotlight doing the red carpet in London for the opening of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey — no doubt a blockbuster in the making — she donned a spring 2013 white Givenchy gown with the unlikely elements of long sleeves, a slit up the side of the skirt, and a very open back. It’s both a monastic dress and a very sexy dress. One thing we’re sure of: this awards season is going to be the Season of The Back. Forget regular cleavage. It’s all about showing the muscles in ones back and shoulders. Reverse cleavage might be a way to describe it.

This is such a Blanchett dress, and she has grown loyal to Givenchy designer Nicolas Ghesquiere – so what will this devotee do when Ghesquiere steps down from Givenchy and gives the reigns to Alexander Wang very soon?

Probably have Ghesquiere design clothes for her! Let’s hope it doesn’t take him long to do his own line. He truly is a couturier and Paris couture won’t be the same without him. Just like the red carpet isn’t the same — or as edgy and cool — without Blanchett.
