Carol received five more nominations: Best Picture, Best Director (Todd Haynes), Best Supporting Actress (Rooney Mara), Best Adapted Screenplay (Phyllis Nagy) and Best Cinematography (Edward Lachman).
The winners will be announced on Monday, December 14, 2015.
Cate also received a nomination as Best Actress at the WAFCA (Washington, D.C. Area Film Critics Association), but the award went to Saoirse Ronan.
