Cate Blanchett Drop Out of ‘While We’re Young’

There is still time to find the replacements.

JustJared.com reported actors James Franco and Cate Blanchett dropped out of “While We’re Young” film before it starts filming in mid-June in New York City.

Franco dropped out due to the scheduling conflict with Sam Raimi’s “Oz: The Great and Powerful,” in which he plays the lead role.

Blanchett pulled out of the project after Franco’s departure, but it is not known for what reason. Maybe it has something to do with the production of “The Hobbit” films?

Comedian-actor Ben Stiller is still attached to the project despite these departures.

The film is about a free-spirited Booklynite twenty-something couple who inspires an uptight documentarian and his wife to loosen up – with comedic consequences.

Director Noah Baumbach will helm the project. Baumbach and Stiller worked together previously in “Greenberg.”

Baumbach has a unique comedic approach towards his movies. The writer-director has a long list of movies in his filmography including “Kicking and Screaming,” “Highball,” “Mr. Jealousy,” “The Squid and the Whale,” “Margot at the Wedding,” and “Greenberg.”

He also wrote the script for “While We’re Young.” His long-time film collaborator Scott Rudin (“Greenberg, “Fantastic Mr. Fox”) will be producing the project and Focus Features will handle the distribution.

Greta Gerwig was previously set to play the young wife, but she left earlier from the project due to scheduling issues.

So with three out of four departed from the project—hopefully they could still save this film. Time for a casting call for new actors!
