Cate Blanchett continues to support up-and-coming and established filmmakers by serving as producer on their works. Together with her husband, Andrew Upton, they founded Dirty Films, where they produce diverse stories and award-winning works.
Cate will also serve as one of the executive producers on selected films for the inaugural Proof of Concept program that she founded with Dirty Films co-partner Coco Francini and founder of Annenberg Inclusion Initiative Dr. Stacy L. Smith. This program aims to find the next generation of of filmmaking talent whose stories promote the perspectives of women, trans, and non- binary people. You can find more information here.
Cate, who is a goodwill ambassador for UNHCR, also co-founded with Ke Huy Quan, Echo Quan, Ayman Tamer, Koji Yanai, and Isaac Kwaku Fokuo the Displacement Film Fund, a new short film grant scheme supporting displaced filmmakers or filmmakers with a proven track record in creating authentic storytelling on the experiences of displaced people. The first recipients of the film fund were unveiled in May 2025 here.
