Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards 2019

Hello dear Blanchetters!

We are sorry for the continuous delay in updating the site, but our members are travelling and news are coming all at once. Cate is on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar UK December 2019 (see next post), as one of the chosen recipients of the Women of the Year Award in partnership with Armani Beauty.

On October 29th, during the gala night, Cate was awarded the Philantropy award, that she accepted in behalf on UNHCR. Enjoy!

“It’s such an incredible privilege to be in this room with such an eclectic, wonderful, unique bunch of women, all of whom I admire in a particular way,” said Cate Blanchett as she took to the stage to accept the Philanthropy award. “Great philanthropists – who I’ve long admired – are always giving with no expectation of return, and it’s never been more important.”

– Gorgeous and gracious CATE accepting her award at Harper’s Bazaar Women of The Year Awards ?I had to cut this short, but listen how sincerely she is praising the wonderful Emitithal Mahmoud in her acceptance speech. Emi is an inspiration to all of us. – Here is a little about her: Sudanese-American slam poet Emi Mahmoud has supported UNHCR’s work since 2016. She was appointed as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador in June 2018 having opened TEDxKakumaCamp, the first ever TEDx event held in a refugee camp. – Born in Khartoum, Sudan, before later moving to the United States, Emi has used her talents to raise awareness on the refugee cause. Her works include How am I to celebrate?, which shines light on the millions of refugees marking Ramadan away from their homes and loved ones, Boy in the Sand, a poem dedicated to Alan Kurdi on the first anniversary of his death, and Head over Heels, written in August 2017 to mark the announcement of the millionth South Sudanese refugee entering Uganda. – – #cateblanchett #marygreenwell #mymakeup #armanibeauty #beauty #emtithalmahmoud
