Cate Blanchett to star in new Guy Maddin film “Rumours”

Cate Blanchett will be starring in a new film titled “Rumours” written and directed by Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson, and Galen Johnson. There is no official announcement yet, but Milton Agency, the agency representing make-up artist Morag Ross, updated her CV listing her as Cate’s personal make-up artist for the film. She also posted a throwback photo on her Instagram with a caption implying that they will be working together again. The film received funding from Telefilm Canada, no details yet on what it is about but it is a comedy according to their press release in April 2023. It is a co-production between Canada and Germany, filming is set to take place in Hungary this month.

The film has also been granted SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement that allows independent productions with no direct ties to members of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to proceed with filming amidst the ongoing actors strike in the US.

Morag Ross and film hair stylist, Kay Geourgio are already in Hungary based on Morag’s Instagram stories.
